About Us
The Hamilton Club offers a unique and welcoming environment where like-minded individuals come together to enjoy camaraderie, shared interests, and a wide range of Club-hosted and private events.
Our History
Founded in 1875, the Hamilton Club first gathered in rented rooms at the Commercial Hotel. It quickly became a place for relaxation and social connection among leading townsmen and visiting pastoralists.
By 1878, the Club had moved into its permanent home—an elegant Italianate building designed by Smith and Johnson. The 1895 Victorian Tourists’ Guide described it as “frequented by the best of the Western District folks.”
Celebrating 150 Years
In 2025, the Hamilton Club proudly celebrates its 150th anniversary—a milestone that honours our rich heritage and ongoing role in the cultural and social life of the region.
A series of celebratory events will take place throughout the year, with members kept informed along the way.
